Without our group of dedicated volunteers we couldn't do the important work we do! Every hour does make a difference. We have many different volunteer opportunities to suit your individual skills and talent. With your help the 6th annual AIDS Walk & 5K Run will be successful and you'll have fun being part of a great experience and event. Volunteer Position DescriptionsBefore the Walk: Phone Bank Call last year's walkers and encourage them to raise money and walk again. No cold calls! Office Support Be at the heart of it all - assist with work in the office at The Center. Community Outreach Use your social skills and enthusiasm to promote the Walk at rallies, special events, clubs, and social gathering places. Week of the Walk: Data Entry / Post Walk Data Entry Help us enter critical information into the database. Typing skills a must! Bundling Materials Make order out of chaos. Put together packages to be mailed out and transferred to the Walk site. Truck Driving Pick up the various donations and help move them to the Walk site. Must be 21, and have a driver's license. Day before the Walk: Set Up “Muscle Crew” makes signs, packs and unpacks food, water, tables, and other equipment for the Walk site. Day of Event: Sign In Register walkers, runners and volunteers by collecting their pledge sheet and pledges! Monitors Ensure the safety of walkers and runners along the route by directing them on foot or bike. Checkpoints Distribute food and drink to the walkers along the route. There are two checkpoints. Teams Assist in setting up “ Team Island ”, the area devoted to our groups that Walk together as a team. Totalers Help verify the information on collection envelopes and tally the grand total.
